Bunchin Paperweights - beautiful Japanese iron ornaments

Bunchin Paperweights - beautiful Japanese iron ornaments 文鎮

Shodo, or Japanese calligraphy, is an art that is very much alive and well in Japan. The implements used in shodo include a paperweight, or bunchin ("boon-chin") for the parchment while you brush the characters in ink.

Bunchin paperweights are almost a world of their own, such is their variety - in terms of shape, size, material, form, color - and, most importantly, their beauty.

GoodsFromJapan offers five beautiful, elegant Japanese bunchin paperweights, selected as being suitable as one-of-a-kind ornaments and decorations in the home: in that special room, as a discrete but exotic feature that others will notice, and you will love.

Crafted out of solid iron, and exquisitely, subtly colored, these very different bunchin all share one thing in common: whimsical beauty in quality, made-in-Japan cast iron.

There is the huge, gentle whale, presented here in very easy to handle proportions, the sleek, playful dolphin, the long, lissome - and healthy - green cucumber, the bulbous, sensual eggplant, and the comically grumpy-looking long-nosed Japanese devil, or "oni" - actually a figure of fun in Japan!

Bōken Yūki Purasutā Wārudo ("Journey of Adventure: Pluster World") is an anime series on TV Tokyo that ran weekly between April 2003 and March 2004 in a total of 52 episodes. Pluster World was directed by Yuji Himaki, the series was organized by Sukehiro Tomita, and the music was by Motoi Sakuraba.

Pluster World proved a huge hit, and its popularity is still very much alive. The story is based on Plusters and Minusters, and there is a huge cast of characters, led by Beetma, Wyburst, Harnia, Moley, Zagarian, and many more denizens with fun, wonderful names, personalities and roles.

Needless to say, Pluster World also has its own games, including a role play game and a racing game.

The full Boken Yuki Purasuta Warudo series is available on DVD, however some of them are very scarce. Pluster World DVDs can often be found on Amazon Japan and Yahoo Auctions Japan, but sellers on these sites usually have a policy of selling to people living in Japan only. The episodes in the DVDs pictured here are 8 and 15. Episode 15 is readily available in Japan, but Episode 8 is quite hard to find, and therefore quite expensive.

GoodsFromJapan comes to the rescue for people who see things like these DVDs that they want but cannot buy because they live outside Japan.
